The WEST RANCH TOWN COUNCIL is an established Town Council, having been founded by Richard Rioux, Ph.D. in the early 1990s recognized thereafter by Michael Antonovich, Supervisor of the 5th Supervisorial District for the County of Los Angeles.  Originally known as the Stevenson Ranch Town Council, its name was changed to the WEST RANCH TOWN COUNCIL in the early 2000s.

The WEST RANCH TOWN COUNCIL is an Advisory Council for Los Angeles County 5th Supervisorial District. The purpose of the Council is to facilitate the exchange of information and communication between the communities it serves and the Supervisor's Office in this unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.  Members of the WEST RANCH TOWN COUNCIL are volunteers elected at large or appointed from the Community. The Council receives no County funding and derives its operating funds from donations and other fees.  The Council operates according to established Bylaws and Procedures.

The Area of Representation for the WEST RANCH TOWN COUNCIL is defined by the map attached to the Charter for the WEST RANCH TOWN COUNCIL as Exhibit "A" and includes, but is not limited to, the communities of Sunset Pointe, Southern Oaks, Stevenson Ranch, and Westridge.
